The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Toronto (ABAT) is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1967.  The Association’s mandate is as follows:

  • To maintain and enrich the cultural heritage of Antiguans and Barbudans living in Toronto by initiating and promoting activities.
  • To nurture the educational growth of young people in the community through programs, events and scholarships.
  • And, to assist individuals and groups during national disasters and times of need, whether here in Toronto, in Antigua and Barbuda, or elsewhere.

The Antigua and Barbuda Association of Toronto (ABAT) also:

  • Provides a forum to discuss matters of interest to Antiguans and Barbudans in our society
  • Establishes channels of communication between Antiguans and Barbudans, other Caribbean communities, and Canadian society at large

General membership is open to all Antiguans and Barbudans and their families living in Toronto or its vicinity.  Associate and honourary membership is available for other individuals and corporate citizens.

ABAT is run by a volunteer executive board that is elected by members in good financial standing at our Annual General Meeting. The board consists of the president, vice-president, administrative assistant, treasurer, public relations officer, youth affairs officer and fundraising chair. Elections are held every two years.

Monthly meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month, except in July, August and December, at Oakwood Wesleyan Church, 33 Brandon Avenue in Toronto (one block north of Dufferin and Dupont).
